The Faint’s bassist is branching back out into his one-man project.

Broken Spindles, the solo project of The Faint’s Joel Peterson, returns Feb. 17 with Kiss/Kick from The Faint’s own label, Blank.wav records. Recorded in studio The Faint opened last year, Enamel, the new album branches out from the laptop-recorded minimalism of the Spindles’ earlier work, to tap live drums and all that other stuff you can do in a studio and not on a notebook computer.

“I knew that finding the balance of opposites was key to making sense of it all, to get the right mix of human and machine, acoustic and electronic, analog and digital, spontaneous and premeditated,” Peterson said in a statement. – Aversion
