Orlando and the Shantelles
Orlando is a singer-songwriter that hails from the streets of Tijuana, arguably one of the meanest, busiest and most inspiring borders in the world. His music has developed organically around these surroundings where creativity and survival are fiercely correlated. Through his simple, yet potently direct style & fearless search for a new sound his music has gained recognition both locally and internationally. Orlando’s voice has been described as “melodious”, “hypnotizing” and “with a line straight to the heart”. His music touches on a variety of styles -from samba infused soul to synth laden balladry- while injecting a personal approach that defies classification. He has toured major cities trhoughout Mexico, California and Spain and has shared stage with the likes of Nortec Collective, Nouvelle Vague, Natalia Lafourcade, Jose Gonzalez, Daedalus & more. Wih the release of his debut album “Capullo”, his journey is just beginning. Produced and written by Angelo Gastelum (El Poeta) with mix and additional production of Tijuana luminary Fernando Corona (Murcof/Terrestre).

Andrea Balency, nacida en la Ciudad de París en 1989, comienza el proceso de composición a los 17 años, todavía impregnada de su educación en la música clásica. Desde ese entonces, sus experiencias de vida en Argentina donde vivió una temporada y México donde radica actualmente, han influenciado su composición al punto de tener influencias no sólo de música tradicional francesa y pop, sino también de folklor mexicano y argentino, jazz e incluso hip hop. Después de un par de años trabajando como solista, el proyecto de Andrea Balency se consolida como trío en la primavera del 2009, hoy en día integrado por Andrea Balency (piano, acordeón, voz), Miguel Sandoval¹ (contrabajo) y Jerson Vázquez² (batería y percusión). Jerson y Miguel, dos talentosos músicos mexicanos con caminos diferentes, han aportado al proyecto ideas que hacen del contenido de la música de Andrea un fenómeno todavía más ecléctico. Explorando temas como la literatura, el mar, el tiempo y la soledad, Andrea Balency se ha presentado en Francia, Argentina y México, trayendo a la gente sonidos nostálgicos de las calles del gris y frío París y recuerdos de lluvia y melancolía, en los cuales importa más la imaginación que las palabras. Próximamente el trío editará su primer EP titulado “Mizraïm”. 1.Miguel Sandoval-México,1985. Llevó a cabo su educación musical en escuelas del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes. A lo largo de su formación ha explorado diferentes ámbitos de la música: clásica, folklórica mexicana, rock, jazz, improvisación libre y arte sonoro. Ha participado en proyectos de comedia musical, danza y performace, músico de sesión y de estudio, teniendo presentaciones en Festivales, museos y diversos foros de la Republica Mexicana. 2.Jerson Vázquez-México,1987. Cazuelas, cascabeles, xilófonos, campanas y partes de batería conforman el instrumento que utiliza en la búsqueda de un sonido propositivo y coherente para la música de Andrea.
